What Kapnagora shows, how to read it, and what it does not do.
A reference for cigars: a catalogue with the facts we can document, what dealers ask for each cigar per stick, and auction results. The website is for looking things up and comparing; your own humidor lives in the app.
No. Kapnagora does not sell cigars and does not broker sales. Prices are asking prices that dealers publish, shown so you can compare; each dealer listing links to that dealer’s own website, where any purchase happens. Kapnagora has no shopping basket and no checkout.
No. Browsing, filtering and comparing on this website works without signing in.
No. We never give a verdict on the authenticity of an individual cigar or box. Where we describe bands, seals or box codes, we show what each source says and how confident it is.
From the listings of dealers we track. Each cigar page lists every current offer with the dealer, the pack it was priced in and the day we last saw it.
Dealers price singles, boxes and packs. To make them comparable we work out the price of one cigar. Prices are shown in euro, converted at the rate of the day noted in our records.
The middle 80 % of the asking prices per stick across dealers, so a single unusually cheap or expensive listing does not distort it. The “typical price” on a cigar page is the middle of the in-stock offers.
Sometimes a listing does not say clearly whether the price is for one cigar or for a box. Then we cannot work out a reliable price per stick, so the offer is shown but not ranked. Where a box size was inferred rather than stated, the page says so.
No. They are asking prices we saw on the day shown, not offers to you. Shipping, taxes and stock at the dealer can differ, so check with the dealer.
Completed sale prices per stick from auction houses we track. We distinguish confirmed auction sales, fixed-price sales and sales whose method is unconfirmed. They record what a lot fetched on a given day. “Recently sold” on the price records page lists the latest results.
Cigars that reappeared in tracked listings after a long gap. It is a sighting, not a recommendation.
In Find & compare, mark up to three cigars and open the comparison: strength, size, origin and price per stick in columns.
Use Find & compare to narrow down by strength, size, factory and price per stick, or start from a house on the Houses page.
We only show what is documented. A missing value means we have no record for it yet, not that it is zero. Cigars without a photo show a plain placeholder.
Written articles and book tables on how cigars are made, dated and told apart, for example fermentation, rolling, bands and seals. See Library.
No, but Cuban brands are the focus and the best documented.
It is your digital humidor. You photograph a box, the app reads the band and box code and matches them to the cigar and its date. Next to what you paid you see current dealer prices and auction results per stick, and you can log what you smoked and how it tasted.
It is coming to TestFlight and the App Store.
Every cigar page has an “Add to your humidor in the app” step that explains what happens next. Your humidor itself is kept in the app, not on this website.
It shows your recorded cost next to dated price records where they exist. Without such records there is no value figure, and it is a reference, not a valuation or an offer to buy.
From publications, dealer listings and auction records.
Prices and records carry the day we last saw them. Offers that are no longer in stock are labelled as sold out or gone.
Please tell us through the contact form. For questions about the app, see App support.
